The principles include the fact that most masks' airflow bypass the filter and simply pass around the edges. You don't need a degree in fluid dynamics to grasp that however, which makes most antimaskers smarter than you are.

Plus the fact viruses can bypass directly to the eyes, that masks "stop" less than 10% of their target, etc.
