To be honest they started as a rebel group fighting the occupiers (Russians) called the Mujahideen. Ronnie Raygun supplied them with weapons and had them in the Whitehouse. I guess at the time it was “your enemy is my enemy so we are allies.” In any case they went on to become the Taliban and shot our own missiles and guns at our troops 20 years later.
