Only those who are legally allowed to have a gun should own one. Also, not everyone who has a clean background should own one. It’s a very personal choice. I carry a gun daily, usually concealed but sometimes openly. I have taken toe necessary steps to secure a license to do so. Last week I was traveling in Baltimore and DC and since I’m a law-abiding citizen I didn’t carry a gun, and one night I found myself in the wrong part of Baltimore. I’ll never again go unarmed.

He's tremendously wrong -- I posted 2 links under the meme citing the numbers about guns. They don't make you any safer. They DO increase your risk of death.

Funny, because the CDC notes that they prevent between 60,000 and 2.5 million crimes every year. I can cite plenty of situations where people with guns stopped active shooters in their tracks minutes before police would have arrived. They can and have been used by folks in the outdoors to scare off potentially dangerous wildlife like bears.

"They DO increase your risk of death." If you're suicidal or an idiot. Sure. But what exactly does that not apply to in life? Not vehicles. Not Tylenol. Not curling irons.

This "people with guns stopped active shooters" point doesn't hold up to the data. It doesn't, and the NRA is not a good source of data.
