What spin? I watched the testimony, it was televised. Not a single person spoke without reading...not even those asking the questions.
One of the officers testified by reading his medical transcript, verbatim. In layman's terms, he broke his toe and needed physical therapy. I broke my toe once, it sucked for 2 weeks and it was over - but apparently this guy is now traumatized for life. You expect me to respect that?
There are photos and video of capitol police removing barricades and holding the doors open for protesters....now they're traumatized? It's my opinion that they did exactly as they were told - they allowed events to unfold as they did, perhaps even encouraging them to unfold as they did.
It strikes me as a possibility that, if participating in this manner, officers may have taken their own lives in shame of what they had done - the depths to which they allowed themselves to sink. Why would I respect or revere someone who has no respect for themselves.
This is political theater. This is an act that they want on record for use against Republicans/conservatives in the next election cycles.
