Sadly, since Imgflip changed about 2 years ago, posting in Fun is usually a complete waste of time. Recently a meme had over 67k views and over 670 upvotes and stayed on the front page for DAYS. It basically said, "My dog died and I really miss him."

What that MEANS is that GOOD, CREATIVE memes "fall off" the display thread within maybe an hour or two, so almost no one sees them, and during THAT short period they are only seen by a user IF the user changes to LATEST.

It has gotten SO bad that RAYDOG, who FOR YEARS had been THE TOP upvote getter, ABANDONED Imgflip and went to Imgur, which was created for Reddit users.

Imgflip was STARTED because Imgur has SO many users that hardly any memes actually get SEEN. Now IMGFLIP is in the SAME situation.

Realistically, it's incredibly unlikely that ANY meme will get a LOT of upvotes, but the best way is to pick only the streams that tends to get a lot (maybe 15-25) and just post in those. And try to have your posts be very similar to the posts there that get higher numbers.
