I like the idea of fireworks. Great big colorful moments in the sky that a large group of people get to experience all together.

I don't like the damage they do to wild life and pets along with the impact that have on people with PTSD and autistic people.

They are pretty. A few at a reasonable time is fine. But they have downsides such as the ones you mentioned that I’m less willing to overlook these days.

I love 'em. They're so unique and festive a way to celebrate special occasions.

Though I hardly think it's fair to say Americans love them because our culture worships weapons...they were likely invented in China over a millenia ago and virtually every human culture on earth with access to them uses them to celebrate.

I know of someone who got home late from work and found their dog with bloody paws trying to get through the back door and into the house.
