He’s Donald Trump. People knew him from tv. Maybe they lived in a building he owned. It was a gimmick that won him one election, and he took the opportunity to show the world what a dumbass he is. Four years later, everyone knows he’s stupid, the gimmick has worn off, and he loses the election. He had to know this is what would happen if he didn’t behave himself

Not if he believes his own lies. Confidence gets you farther than truth or reason. Until you hit the wall.

I knew who he was long before his crappy tv show. That was the point of my comment.

Gawd, so hard to believe anyone could stomach the guy long enough to work for him longer than a week or two.

When I read about AG Barr doing the obvious thing and telling him he was full of shit over the voter fraud crap, in so many words — when so many others (including himself) had enabled Trump and his worst tendencies for so so long — it was quite cathartic.

Barr may be a partisan hack, but he is a real lawyer. Unlike Giuliani, who hasn’t practiced law in decades, and long, long ago effectively traded away his law license for political fame, the speaking circuit, and influence-peddling. (As of just a few days ago, New York has made that official by suspending Giuliani’s license in light of his grievous election-related lies).

AG Barr in that moment was doing something quite simple. Just being a lawyer — just doing his job, examining the facts, and breaking bad news to his client, the way all lawyers must at some point. (The AG isn’t *technically* the President’s attorney, but the relationship is close)

A small glimmer of reality intruding and order being restored in the word.
