Being pro-choice, I was alarmed to read that she is forced to use contraception against her will. This includes an IUD which is: 1. invasive; 2 may someday give her nasty side effects; 3. one of the things other countries condemn China for doing to women.
Many of those years she was cool with it, well maybe not 'cool' perse but she had she fought it then her 'issues' would have come to light, which for obvious reasons she did not. Bizarre case.. but would not put it into the man/woman thingy....
To me it’s all too reminiscent of those Victorian-era madhouses for women (even upper-class women) who were sent there “for their own good” after acting “hysterical” (read: not conforming with the era’s stifling gender norms).
This might not seem like a “political” topic. But one of the most well-known entertainers in America has been robbed of the ability to make decisions for herself for most of her adult life. Isn’t that weird? It’s really quite bizarre. And it’s hard to imagine the same would have happened if she were male. If our legal system allows for ***Britney Spears*** to be shackled for 13 years under dubious circumstances, then it could do the same to any woman. So, #FreeBritney.
