This minor change might be the kick in the butt I need to facilitate a perhaps-overdue disengagement from that stream.

It’s toxic as hell. You sink hours and hours, but no one changes their mind — seldom even approaches the conversation from a good-faith and informed perspective.

Of late, I’ve been parodying a MAGA troll off and on as my own sort of mini-protest, partly for kicks, partly as a way to continue to participate without getting sucked into endless arguments.

I have a gazillion other ways on Imgflip to get my perspective across — here at PoliticsTOO, and on my other streams. I don’t feel the need to throw myself into the lion’s den anymore.

I will however miss monitoring the politics stream for abuses — and it makes me sad for all the new liberals who might find this website, stumble across the politics stream and get fed to the wolves with less liberal support from those of us who are now boycotting it.

I can only hope they find PoliticsTOO and the other streams like it and realize that crazy stream is not necessarily representative of Imgflip as a whole.

Apparently you can again submit memes to politics stream without following it, but it no longer appears on your drop-down streams if you don’t follow it.

A curious compromise!

Under that kind of a system, I might continue to submit my two memes a day, but not visit it to look at memes or comment.
