Exactly, Martin Luther King Jr. was focusing on ALL LIVES MATTER! Where every man, not just black, but everyone to have equality, and it is funny that they are destroying his monument. I respect MLKJ, he's for EVERYONE and not just one specific group (BLM)

I understand what you're going for here, and I agree, but Uncle Tom was actually based off of a slave named Josiah Henson who helped free other slaves. So Uncle Tom is more of a compliment, if you know the history.

No one calling a black man "Uncle Tom" today means it as a compliment. You know that.

I know, that's why I said "if you know the history" which no one does... or wants to.

Being right, and knowing your history, doesn't change the colloquial usage and definition of this phrase.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you, but if you used that phrase in a complimentary way, speaking to or about a Black person, chances are you'd be cancelled before you could finish speaking.

Is there a reason this is sounding like an argument? I was agreeing with you and was just sayin' the Josiah Henson thing as a 'fun fact'

While Josiah Hensen may have been the person the character was based upon, Uncle Tom was the slave that supported the white masters.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_Tom

"Uncle Tom is the title character of Harriet Beecher Stowe's 1852 novel, Uncle Tom's Cabin.[1] The character was seen by many readers as a ground-breaking humanistic portrayal of a slave, one who uses nonresistance and gives his life to protect others who have escaped from slavery."

Wikipedia! Oh damn! That random stranger attempting to rewrite the worlds interpretation of a novel must be right!
