the glut of petroleum (due to more EVs etc) will lower the costs of these other petroleum based products. we will always need petroleum for certain things like asphalt and shingles and plastics. Unless and until alternative base chemicals are found like plant based oils, etc.

Aha, You get it! Try insulating the wires in your EV without plastic. A lot of people don't understand that absolutely everything we have is either mined or grown. There is no third option.

But a vast majority of air pollution is from burning these fossil fuels. The more we adopt clean energies and fuels for cars, trucks etc the more petroleum we will have for all the ancillary needs like certain plastics, asphalt etc.

To heck with cheap clothes and plastic. Destroy the oil companies!

So we need a robust recycling program to make those clothes and kayaks out of the megatons of plastic that we send to the landfill. That'll take some serious 21st century science and American know-how.

There's already the beginnings of converting plastic back into petroleum. It'll be the end of having to sort the plastics by type. It works for sure in the lab. From there, it can be made into plastic again. I was bummed that the scientist mentioned that it could even be turned into fuel. I would love to email him this page. That's part of why the title of the meme starts with, "Burning gasoline is bad, M'kay?"
