Lots of things added up to Floyd's death.

Lots of things added up to Floyd's death. | "I can't breath"; According to the transcripts of the event, this was George Floyd's complaint long before Officer Chauvin put his knee on his neck. There were 3 things that caused Floyd to not be
able to breath.
1) Heart attack from a fentanyl overdose.
2) The medical examiner found Floyd had COVID-19.
3) Officer Chauvin's knee on his neck where he repeated
    that he could not breath. Regardless, May 25, 2020 was going to be Floyd's last day alive with or without the assistance of any police officer. He had taken a fatal overdose of fentanyl. This is not a justification of what Officer Chauvin did, just a statement of fact. | image tagged in george floyd,fentanyl od,covid-19,heart attack | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

If you look at Red Cross media on choking, if a persons airway is obstructed they cannot talk or make a sound. If Floyd could say he could not breathe his airway was not blocked.

That's true. I don't know why I hadn't thought about that. I know that because of that is one of the ways that you can tell if a person just swallowed the wrong way and actually choking on food. If you swallow the wrong way it makes you cough a lot and you can still breath. If you are choking then no air is getting in or out of your lungs and therefore you cannot speak.

I am not even close to being a doctor and I live over a thousand miles away from where all this happened so I am very far out of the loop but from where I am sitting I think Floyd was having respiratory failure due to a heart attack due to an overdose of fentanyl. He was having trouble breathing and complained about it a lot long before he had a knee on his neck. I read the transcripts and then listen to the audio when they were released to the public. Floyd sounded as if he was in fear for his life but one of the officers kept reassuring him that they were not going to harm him. That didn't help Floyd at all. When they got him to the back of the squad car he kept saying that he could not breath and that he was claustrophobic. He got out and they put him back in again. He got out again and that is when they took him to the ground and the one officer pinned him down with his knee.

Police know that suspects frequently try to avoid arrest by lying. They do not trust the suspect, hence the knee on the neck to control the uncooperative suspect. A gymnast will tell you that where the head goes, the body goes. Also if the blood to the brain is cut off he would’ve passed out within 10 to 20 seconds, not eight minutes. Watch this video of a rear naked choke by an MMA fighter

I never trained for MMA fighting, nor did I ever want to, but I have studied martial arts for several years. Plus now I am too old and tool fat but mostly too old (I turned 63 today) I am familiar with the choke hold and how to do that. I was in my late 50's the last time I was in a martial arts class and getting thrown on a mat just wasn't has easy to get up from as it was when I was younger. BTW I am far from a pro at any of it. Just because I trained in it doesn't mean I was any good at it.

If I remember correctly the police have been prevented from doing the rear naked choke hold. For some reason they are more fatal on blacks than other races, I am not sure. I don't even know why they would be fatal unless the officer kept that hold on a person for several minutes. The video clearly demonstrates that you never need to choke out a person that long. Also in my training (Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido) there are ways to get out of a choke hold but you have to execute them flawlessly because you most likely won't get a second chance.

noun: take a breath
verb = can't breathe.

but good points that tell us truth isn't running the show these days.

I first read the transcripts from the police cameras. Later, when they were available, I listened to the audio. I can only assume that what I read and heard was the truth. That was part of what I based my meme on.
