That is untrue as well. We believe everyone deserves equal treatment, regardless of who they are affiliated with or how. It is at the core of our beliefs as it is at the core of the Constitution (and don't bring up that the founding fathers supported slavery, it was the world's most profitable business at the time. Plus, 13th amendment), and it is at the core of human morality in general.

Conservatives were on the wrong side of history when it came to the civil rights struggle (equal treatment) in 1960s America. Anyway, I can't prove what the outcome of my hypothetical Rush Limbaugh scenario would be.

It was very complicated and not a sudden switch. By the time JFK ran for president, the switch was pretty much official.

And the reason why JFK being a Catholic running for Potus (which was scandalous at the time) carried The South, mainly Texas was because he chose Lyndon Johnson as his running mate, a Southern Democrat aka Dixiecrat who won him Texas.

I was wrong, the switch was still evolving when JFK was president. More "official" by the civil rights act of 1964. LBJ was unique as a Texas Democrat pushing for civil rights. So the GOP has been as we know it since 1964.

1964 - Barry Goldwater, and Strom Thurmond marked the beginning when the Ideology & the people that believed it switched from the now changing Democrat Party and Joined the Republican Party who was now holding the views they agreed with.
