Jack Dorsey didn't remove people on Twitter for political opinions.

Granted, most of these are conservative celebrities... not exactly the common conservative. Yet, I bet they have followers and retweets of people who agree with their sentiment.

So, the position that Twitter and Facebook are trying to purposely remove people from the discussion for political differences of opinion are grossly exaggerated.

He (Twitter) has removed far more people for speaking certain trigger phrases like "stolen election" and "all lives matter."

Here's a personal example: I was banned from Facebook for posting this comment, word for word...

"Wow! I actually agree with you on something. I guess I'll need to slit my wrists and drink some bleach."

That was the comment I posted in response to another comment on an NFL trash talking page I was a part of. Facebook claimed I was "bullying and harassing" and therefore was being banned for 7 days. The comment was about me and nowhere did I mention doing anything to anyone else.

I deleted Facebook after that, since it was the third ban in a month's time. I had it. So this banning thing and squelching my speech, be it hate or not, is an actual thing.

As for Facebook...

I can't say I have been banned on Facebook and I'm not on Twitter. The former I've only use to keep in touch with friends, family, classmates, and co-workers. But I have engaged in political discussions and have had may stuff marked or my comments removed when I posted on a public page. I cannot remember the circumstance but it was a joke over racial discrimination. Supposedly the person's last name was White and I made an... off-color remark. :D And it got flagged. I don't think she was the one who flagged it, either.

But again, from what I understand; the people who Twitter removed was the QAnon group and Donald Trump. Honestly, that's no real loss. Any more than if someone removed Keith Olbermann or PETA from Twitter.

And no one was permanently banned, from what I understand, except a select few repeat individuals who had been banned before. The exception being Trump who then broke Twitter's TOS by trying to circumnavigate his ban. Pretty basic stuff when you are banned from any kind of forum or platform, honestly.

I would rather not have anyone banned unless they're threatening people's lives or posting pornography or child abuse. Everyone has the right to their opinion, even if you don't agree with their opinion, and not get banned or canceled. Including Olbermann.

I admit, QAnon is a big bag of crazy that I'm woefully ignorant of the exact contents that were in there. And I imagine there were elements to QAnon that lead to it being enough to merit removal with regards to threats to people's lives.

As for Donald Trump, I'd say he was about as vile as Olbermann was on Twitter but I think the primary issue they initially had was his abuse of his power as President. There were legal reasons Twitter could not alter or remove the President's tweet which it's against federal law to not alter what the President has written. And I don't think anyone considered that becoming this behemoth of a legal issue in regards to platforms on social media.

However, as at the time he had been voted out of office, Twitter opted to temporary suspend him instead. Then ultimately banned him for the actions he made afterwards on the social media site. Theoretically, they could've banned him at any time without compromising federal law as long as his tweets remained. His tweets are still available to publicly view but have been archived.

That doesn't mean your bank or employer will not listen can ban/fire you.

Fair point, their job shouldn't dictate their opinions or what they do on their own damn spare time.
