Not saying the guy in Colorado didn’t have a motive, but what was the motive? Still whatever it was, it shouldn’t of happened. We need background checks. I mean I gets handgun, but why do you need an AR-15?

His motives was hatred. He was a paranoid ISIS sympathizer that was already on the FBI's radar for planning an attack on a MAGA Rally a year ago (which wound up cancelled due to Corona).

The AR15 is villified as some sort of mega-shooty-deathenwerfer when in reality it is a relatively low power rifle. Honest questions:
- what so you "get" about handguns?
- why does none of your above answer apply to long guns (shotguns and rifles)?
- what specifically makes an AR15 more deadly than a handgun?
...and the exit question...
- what other privileges enumerated in the Constitution need to be justified as a "need" to modern society?

If AR-15 or other "assault riffles" weren't available, these shooters would select other, equally powerful guns.
Now, I imagine these types of guns are more appealing to these types of people because they "look badass", and they envision themselves as "badass rebels" rather than mentally disturbed psychopaths.
