I agree with this somewhat. As a 3rd party scrolling through comments, it's not exciting to me to see 50% of the responses being from the image owner, especially when many of them are cheesy suck-up comments or low-effort comments like "lol".
I think Imgflip is partly at fault for this, due to the point motivations we have in place for comment upvoting. People are incentivized to comment as much as possible on their own memes because they have more free rein to comment as much as they want, and each comment is another chance for upvotes. Perhaps we need to reduce the power of upvotes on additional comments on a given image, so that the first couple comments allow normal point rewards when people upvote them, but later comments grant lower and lower amounts of points as one comments more.
Or maybe it's fine to have some cheesy and low effort comments, because the more comments the better!
