So, the Star-Bellied Sneetches book tells a perfect story about how bigotry operates and why bigotry is wrong, and the joy we can all experience when it’s ended. There’s really no better parable that I know of that can explain the concept so well even to children.

I feel like this story on its own goes a long way toward exonerating Dr. Seuss for some of his cringier illustrations.

Those 6 books, (and they weren’t any of his famous ones) can be quietly dropped without tossing out the entire legacy of this brilliant, iconic American illustrator-storyteller.
