Dr. Seuss Cancelled by the left

I know that I am old. But when I was growing up, there were lots of political disagreements then just as they are today. Something that I heard regularly from others was something along the lines of “I disagree with what you are saying, but I will fight to the death for your right to say what you want to say”.

This was just something that people my age truly believed. We welcomed free speech, and freedom of expression, and we believed that these freedoms needed to be defended even for people who we disagreed with.

So today’s trend of political correctness and cancel culture seems to me to be about 180 degrees away from what it ought to be. History is replete with all kinds of cancel culture from book burnings to genocide for religious or political purposes, to all kinds of flavors of fascism. The root of all cancel culture is always utter intolerance for the views of others that conflict with those who are in power.

And we seriously need to make a stand and send our current flavors of cancel culture to the ash heap of history before it gets way out of hand.

Dr Seuss wrote so many books that are pro environment and anti racist. "A person is a person no matter how smallish" - Horton Hears a Who. Maybe it's not about offending people as it is about censoring his message. The left, who say they want unity, doesn't really want unity at all. They only want submission.

Who's next? E.B. White? Roald Dahl?

Saving culture

When the “Woke” told everyone to boycott Goya Foods, I bought about $50 worth of canned Goya beans.

Hehe, I don't know much in dollars, but I bought heavy on chipotles in adobo, a container of adobo seasoning, several bags of plaintain chips and yes, frijoles negros!

The publisher did not decide not to sell Dr Seuss books. Publishers don't sell books, they publish them. Retail outlets and book stores sell books.
You would know that if you had enough intelligence to read a book.

I find it funny that it took them this long to figure out that Dr.Seuss books had hidden messages, I mean have you read yurtle the turtle
