Scientists are human, and as such are prone to all the same weaknesses as those in other professions. They can consciously or even subconsciously have their work influenced by those who provide the funding for their work.
That's why peer review and free inquiry are critical when it comes to science, and the verification of any scientific hypothesis.
As the great Carl Sagan said: “The suppression of uncomfortable ideas may be common in religion or in politics, but it is not the path to knowledge, and there's no place for it in the endeavor of science."
That's why when the modern day leftist screams "follow the science" when somebody merely asks them to support their claims, they're engaging in the exact opposite of science. They're just too ignorant to realize it.
