When Trump proposed $2000, the $600 recent payments hadn’t been agreed to yet.

$600 is all Senate Republicans were willing to cough up.

Now it’s a 50/50 Senate, so Democrats have the tools to deliver on Trump’s promise by passing an additional $1400 in spite of GOP opposition.
