that is true, and we should be using them on a larger scale. there are drawbacks to each and every one of these tho.
solar power is easy to use, but panels aren't cheap and they're best placed in open areas where the sun can reach.
geothermal grids require drilling and still produce emissions
biomass still requires burning, which releases greenhouse gases
hydroelectric energy is one of the most efficient and the most beneficial, though it disrupts the flow of water.
IMO, the best one of these is wind power. it's cheap, doesn't take up much space, and Scotland has an energy surplus from wind power. the only drawbacks to wind power are the noise it produces & the potential threat to birds/bats, though noise is produced by literally anything with spinny objects such as vehicles, and skyscrapers are also a threat to birds; not many know about that.
