55% isn't too bad compared to the percent of Democrats that condemned blm and antifa riots.
I agree that's quite a disappointment.
I myself am of the opinion that the psychological impact of covid is to blame for riots. Republicans have been pissed about election results many times, but never have they stormed the capital in a coup attempt until now. Likewise blm has existed since 2013 and 2020 wasn't the first time police used excessive force on an unarmed black man. Again, there was never a nationwide looting, rioting, and burning of flags until recently. The common factor here is people sick of life locked down and thus are becoming increasingly aggressive.
Also I think the capital riot was planned in advance, not triggered by rump's speech. I understand he used the word fight a lot but that's not enough being that politicians use it all the time in hyperbolic sense. The only things he directly told the crowd to do was to cheer on their fellow Republican senators and "peacefully and patriotically" make their voices heard. There was no call for violence in his speech.
