Ah, medical care is a luxury, in stead of a right, and when you can't pay for it... sorry, but then you'll die, or be impaired for the rest of your life unless you had the money to prevent it. And this in a population where only 2% of the entire population is able to cough up the money for good medical treatment.

We could have used your support on the #ForceTheVote effort - to try to get Nancy Pelosi's Speakership tied to the issue... But there will no doubt be opportunities in the future, if we're vigilant and keep pushing the issue. When wide swaths of the population are unemployed and uninsured, during a Healthcare crisis - you'd think that we'd already have enough leverage to get a bill to the floor... But this is one crisis that they're willing to 'let go to waste', apparently.

Well, I live in a country where everybody has the obligation to have your health insured. I do not live in the U.S. so I'm not sure how much I can do in the U.S. What I can say is that the system I have to deal with is far from perfect and it can be better in many ways, but at least I can be sure that whatever happens to me, most of my hospital bills will not be my concern. Well to a certain extend as it's not entirely free (contrary to what many people in the U.S. believe).

I did once get somebody who was insulted when I posted this out because "U.S. doctors are top quality". Well I don't doubt that. I'm sure the U.S. has very good doctors, some of them maybe even the best of the world, but the quality of the doctors was not my concern. How they get paid when only a very few are insuranced is.

Now I must say that in Europe there might be a lot of misconceptions about health care in the U.S. as well as there are misconceptions in the U.S. about our systems, and from where I am it's very hard to separate fact from fiction on the situation in the U.S. However, I do know that many people in the U.S. almost had a hard attack when they got the bill from their hospital, and that is something you won't easily see in Europe.
