I'm in a small business. $15 an hr would suck so bad. It would only drive up the price of literally everything. Property owners would do well for themselves. Small businesses would have to raise the price of their products to compensate for the price of extra labor costs. Seriously? How do you go from $7 and change to $15? Literally everything Biden and Co are doing is like they're trying to hurt America.

Which would hurt more, $15 an hour or a 15% tax increase?

Maybe 15 hr

How many employees do you have? Trump administration gave you a 15% tax cut, so your income went up. They sold it to the American people saying jobs would be created and workers wages would go up.

You don't have to sell the idea of saving money. That is a no brainer. From what I've seen, only democrats have been okay with paying more taxes as long as it gets rid of trump. But...tax breaks make way for businesses to be able to give raises and job opportunities but no onencan guarantee what every business will do. But making fed wage $15 an hr is something that will for sure have a negative impact to businesses

Saving money? How much money do you think can be saved on 7.25 an hour? 58.00 for an 8 hour day.
Do you really think that Joe Biden campaigned on the platform of raising taxes to get rid of Trump?
So the GOP gives businesses a 15% tax cut, ( Money in their pockets ) but asking them to spend it on their employees is wrong?. That's the definition of redistribution up.
Some businesses gave a little rase or a little bonus, and they might do it again in a few years. Meanwhile, they will put that 15% in their profit column.
Bringing minimum wage up will force them to make "Trickle Down" a reality.

Um yes...save money with lower taxes. Ur speaking as if every business operates the same and are cheapskates giving only min wage. My company gave raises. And yes ivd discussed taxes with dems and they would trade higher taxes and Trump.
Only thing 15 min wage will force is many businesses going under.
If someone is working at a place that is run by cheapskates then it's on them to leave. Or maybe the business isn't run by cheapskates but it's just a low end entry level job. We need those in the economy.
Government should stay out of it. Leave it to the states if they think min wage needs raised.

I was an Owner Operator in Trucking for over 27 years. I drove a truck & I owned 5 more and had drivers and families that depended on my decisions. In trucking, drivers are paid by the mile. I always paid a bit more than company drivers get paid. When big companies were paying .42 a mile, I was paying .48. And wherever I had my small fleet leased, I was able to get my drivers covered with Medical, Dental, Vision & 401K benefits. I'm also the guy that paid for all of the fuel & maintenance on the trucks. So I know a little about profits, loses, taxes and balance sheets. I gave my guys a great wage and independence. They took pride in their trucks and that kept maintenance costs and fuel consumption reasonable. My guys didn't look for greener grass somewhere else. I retired on 12/31/2016. So Trump's tax cuts never benefited me & my business. My trucks were all around 3 years old at that time. My guys bought them from me outright and continued under contracts that were in place. Some have now also retired or have leased on with other companies. Over the years homes, and cars,
and college educations were paid for. I didn't become a multimillionaire. That wasn't my goal. Independence of having my business and pride in all of my drivers was all I needed. I gave them the most pay that I could from every contract. They gave me loyalty and did their jobs, like it was their own business.

Glad it worked out for you. Sounds a little like the business I'm a part of. No 401k yet but we're still a small but growing company
0 ups, 4y
If you don't invest in your workers, and make them a part of growing your business, they won't care if you succeed or not. They'll seek greener grass where they feel like a part of the overall goal.

The idiot party thinks everyone is worth the same and that small businesses should die.

Someone who owns a convenience store on this site did the calculations for hiring 2 staff a day to stack shelves or something along those lines.
I don't remember where he wrote it but it was more or less $330 a day (2x10 hour shifts + tax expenses on the company side) which is about $550-650 in store sales to make enough to cover it per day.
times $550 by 364 (days) on your calculator.

Say what?

The 15 dollars an hour would drive up labor costs by 100% if you are doing minimum wage payment. I think that the increase would cost me my job. (I make slightly less then minimum wage before tips, and tips get me to or above minimum wage)

The GOP Tax Scam was indeed redistribution up.

We were told that the tax cuts for the rich would create jobs and raise wages. Instead, the wealthy put the money in their pockets.

Since they have the money already, it's time for it to "trickle down".

It's almost like parties only consider their corporate donors. I hope you don't think it's exclusive to the Republicans.

I don't see the Republicans pushing for increased wages, even after giving the corporations the money to increase wages.

They shouldn't push for increased wages. What good would it do. It shuts down small businesses and devalues the currency making the rich richer and the poor poorer. The only thing that would help the poor is actions that punish middlemen and bureaucracies who create false economies.

Universal Healthcare might help too.

I know a bar owner. He's gone from 11.00 an hour to 14.00 over the last 3-4 years. He raised drink prices 5 cents. Doesn't have any issue with going to 15.00

People making 7.25 qualify for Food Stamps. You can pay to feed them, or you can give them a living wage so they can feed themselves. They're not buying new cars, paying car insurance, tuition for college or buying houses & investing in the stock market.
They're existing. Barely.
Trickle down is a big lie. The GOP has been feeding that lie for decades.

It was the biggest talking point by the GOP for justifying the tax cuts. Most poverty wage paying companies pay more in hiring and training than they would in paying a decent wage and having an employee want to stay and protect his job.
2 ups, 4y
Businesses clearly shouldn't get help from the government and should fail if they aren't adequately compensating employees that are valuable. 15 dollar minimum wage creates an equally false environment where people are not paid based on merit.

Trump gave Apple a tax cut too. They're a big corporation, part of the wealthy. They still make their stuff in China.
