That actually says something. I was thinking that this sounds so much like what a callous villain would say that people wouldn't think that [ I ] would actually make that statement.
The missing component that makes this meme absurd is that these people would have died from the flu anyway. In the old days they called it 'dying of old age' when your body is so old it can't even fight off a cold or flu.
I have experience in the medical field in the military. The Veterans Health Administration told the CDC that their patients are 5X more likely to die from this virus than from the flu.
Yes, they did say that a looooong time ago way back at the beginning. Now though the death rate is super low. Like a bad flu.

0.66% death rate.
In the old old days they'd expose extra children. That is not an argument that holds water. And just because someone is over eighty, or has a weakened immune system, or diabetes, or asthma, does not make them acceptable wastage.
Okay, I know you’re really stupid, but I’ll try to use little words to explain this.
There are two questions here: How much of a threat is it? What are the measures to prevent it costing us?
That second one? That’s the one dogmatic morons like you are entirely ignoring. The first one? That’s the one you’re acting like hysterical children about.
Agree! All of my parents and my in-laws are healthy, productive people over the age of seventy, as are many of their friends.
I'm guessing Steven Spielberg (74) and Helen Mirren (a lady doesn't have to tell!) still have a few good movies left in them, and of course lots of us are rooting for Martin (72) to finish The Winds of Winter.
And (perhaps lokiare needs this stated explicitly?) many older people make meaningful contributions to the world without being famous.
What about the rest of us? Do we matter? Or must we sacrifice the entire rest of society for that group?
Do you have any idea how much damage the lockdowns are causing? Poverty? Drug abuse? Suicide? Do you care at all? Or only what the pretty people on the TV tell you to care about?
You're right that the pandemic and the lockdowns are increasing the income and opportunity disparities in our society, and exacerbating the widespread drug problems -- but I doubt that letting the Rona run loose through the communities already suffering from those issues would make them better.
TERRORIST ATTACK; WHAT IF? "2,977 PEOPLE ...... ALL OF THEM 78 YEARS OF AGE, HAVE BEEN KILLED."; "You know, I actually don't feel THAT bad for their loved ones. 78 is the exact average lifespan here. Plus, over 99.9% of us survived that attack."
