Good meme, I like it, however there were only 48 stars on the flag at that time.

Using a weapon of mass destruction against a pair of civilian targets was not our finest national moment. Not endorsing WW2 Japan, which was definitely an evil empire, but the thought of those thousands of civilian casualties keeps me up every August 6th and 9th.

In Japan everyone was involved with making the weapons, feeding those that made the weapons and fully believing in the cause to take over the world. There were no civilian targets.

There are always civilians. The US was on a wartime footing as well, with the whole society contributing through steel drives and war bonds, but that didn't make everyone a soldier.

Your logic is so full of holes - if an area is rife with military production in wartime it is a legitimate military target.

If you don't want to be a target then don't contribute to the war effort. Move yourself and your family out to the boondocks.

I sleep like a baby because a) I wasn't alive so I had no input in that bit o' history and b) people's live on our side were saved (like my grandfather) because we didn't have to invade mainland Japan which would have cost more lives in the long run, military and civilian.

Nope, it was the lesser of two evils.

The other factor not mentioned is if the war with Japan had dragged on, not only would we have invaded Japan, but Russia would have to. So, not only would we have had puppet states in North Korea and North Vietnam, but we would have had a Soviet puppet state of North Japan and the atrocities that would have gone along with that.
