[image deleted] Anybody who thinks Star Wars fans hate Rey and Marvel fans hate Captain Marvel/Brie Larson because they're women clearly are not fans of either franchise. Star Wars has some of the most iconic strong female characters in pop culture like Princess Leia, Padme Amidala, and Ahsoka Tano. Princess Leia was the Senator of Alderaan for the Imperial Senate, she smuggled the Death Star plans away from Darth Vader at the battle of Scarif, she resisted torture from Darth Vader where the vast majority of people would have cracked, she was the one who got Han, Luke, and Chewie saved when they were trapped on the detention level, she was a leader of the Rebel Alliance, and she killed Jabba the Hutt. Because of this, she's one of feminism's greatest icons, right up there with Rosie the Riveter. Padme Amidala was the Queen of Naboo, she brokered peace between the Naboo and the Gungans, she retook Theed Palace from the Trade Federation, captured Nute Gunray, became a Senator in the Republic, survived several assassination attempts as well as an execution by wild animal at the Geonosis arena, snuck behind enemy lines to try and get peace negotiated between the Republic and Seperatists at the Seperatist parliament, and fought in many battles in the Clone Wars. Ahsoka started off as a snippy Padawan, but we got to see her grow as a character into the character we all know and love. So what do all these characters have in common? They are all strong female characters that are about as universally loved as you can get, and they are written well. Compare that to basically any character in the Sequel trilogy, where none of them are well written, they are strong just because, and are mostly rejected by the Fandom. Same thing with Marvel; Black Widow and Scarlet Witch are well written and are well rounded characters. Meanwhile, Captain Marvel, while at least having decent writing, is plagued by the bad acting and awful personality known as Brie Larson. Replace Brie with someone better at acting and I doubt many people would hate the Captain Marvel character.
