We did we caused some of the problems ourselves Liholiho the second king deforested an entire mountain because he wanted lots of money the Queen who was ruling during the overthrow told the Hawaiians not to fight back even though we had the numbers to do so and win we were a warrior culture all the men and even some woman were trained in many ways on how to fight an even shoot guns and cannons America was dealing with a war of their own during that time if the Hawaiians were to fight back America would either have to fight a war on two fronts or just leave Hawaii alone and America wasn't the ones who ordered the overthrow it was a bunch of company men who bribed the navy into marching down to the palace with guns and cannons.

I know nothing about Hawaiin history, though I imagine their experience is not much different from other indigenous peoples around the world -rape, pillage, death, disease, subjugation, slavery. I like to think that most people these days don't care because they don't have a relative point of comparison or are ignorant rather than being white supremacist.

Actually Hawaiians had a way better time because we engaged in trade from the beginning when the west first came the only real slip up was the first ship whoʻs captain and crew attacked when the Hawaiians didn't agree to a trade. There was no slavery, pillage, or rape but the rest of what you said did happen but death and disease was always going to happen when a society that has been isolated for hundreds of years without contact.

Let me be perfectly clear: I think that teacher was being a genuine a-hole. I prefer expressing myself by meme, please try not to read too much into them, they are not intended to be very serious or a replacement for thoughtful communication. I do enough writing, and prefer visuals!
