Useless information you never really needed to know:
The swastika was used for millennia by the hindus, buddhists, jains and others. It has been incorrectly assumed to be of Indian origin. It's exact origin has been lost to time.
It is believed Hitler adopted the haukenkreuz, common symbol for headstones in Germany at the time, from the one on his own mother's headstone (whom he adored) when he had the Reichsflaggengesatz law passed in 1935.
The symbol from the oriental origins carries the meaning of "well-being". It is also believed to have been derived from an observation of a whirlpool to symbolize eternity moving to its assumed start/finish. As stated previously, the origins are unknown.
The symbol, however, was quite popular in many countries and many large buildings in the u.s. had that very symbol emblazoned on tiles lining the entryways prior to Hitler's adaptation.
Just thought I'd share this.
