Downvoting comments should be disabled in the Politics stream

There's been talk of doing this throughout the years and it's never panned out. Simply put, downvoting is the best way of making sure the best comments stay on top and the worst stay near the bottom. Of course people are going to use it to go after their opponents, just like they would with any other feature. What I usually do and what I recommend other users to do is if you have polite disagreement, upvoting each other shows even though you may disagree, you still respect the other's opinion. Of course if you get some user being like "fuk yu, my politician is the gr8est yurz is like literally Hitlur", that doesn't really deserve an upvote. I went ahead and upvoted your comments on the image you linked.

Bring back the upvote downvote bar, I miss that, that'll wrinkle some feathers.

I tend to do the same but I argue that it could still be improved. I also realize upvotes can counter downvotes but it appears rare for hidden comments to return from hidden. As a compromise to keep the downvote to hidden feature, perhaps raise the downvote capacity needed? Not sure where it is now, but it seems like it somewhere between three and five. Maybe raise it somewhere to five and eight? Just a thought.

I'm also more forgiving of people downvoting comments that have direct insults or foul language. But I tend to present a reasonable post more often than not and for some reason that gets downvoted more than the mudslinging. It's almost like people don't want to have civilized discussions. Heh.
