Good. Anonymous memes, especially in Politics, always annoyed me. If you're that ashamed of your beliefs, don't post it. And isn't everyone kind of anonymous on here, anyway? I mean, unless you shared a photo of yourself and give out all your personal info, we're all just hiding behind a fake username, of which we're capable of changing every 30 days.

For sure it's a good setting for m/politics and it's now available for every stream owner to use as they see fit.

I think a lot of new users used to submit to the fun stream that way over the years, nothing sinister or malicious about most of those, just as a way to test the waters here.

Since I started out with a few that way when I was new here, I'm kind of nostalgic about the old Imgflip. It's another change away from that place.

I'll say there were more than a few users that abused the anonymous option in the fun stream, so overall I agree it's better this way.

I looked at the comment, NSFW for sure. Occasionally I'll flag a SFW image page NSFW because the image owner is posting NSFW comments. So I'm probably not going to do that to the page at this point, unless you ask for that or start posting swimsuit stuff there and I see it later.

Even though I've been a Community Moderator for over two years, I still have trouble with some stuff that's borderline. My guidance from the man upstairs is to only take action if I'm very confident it's the right call. If I'm not sure about something, I err on the side of leaving it as is.

At the risk of degrading myself, I'm going to repost one of those memes here just so we can be clear about what the heck we are talking about.

As you're probably aware, the internet is full of hateful and abusive trolls whose content tends to take over when mods allow it to.

If the content you see on that page is "usual stuff" for the politics stream (and I don't think it is, honestly: I think it's quite a bit worse), then well. The memer who posted it is a big part of the reason why. This particular memer is unusually active and sets a tone for the politics stream; other trolls upvote and reward it.

I talked about plausible reasons the content could be TOS-violating, so let me spell that out a bit:

1. Abuse: As a matter of substance, the content is degrading to women.
2. Harassment: The content isn't topical or related to the meme subject whatsoever or the general politics stream purpose of furthering political debate. Its sole purpose is to derail and attempt to get a rise out of me.
3. Spam: He's posted the same sort of abusive pictures over and over again in comments more times than I can count at this point. At a certain point this can be considered spam. In addition, the sheer number of times he's reposted the content reinforces point #2.

Is this "funny"? Does the content survive under some sort of humor/satire defense? Does it help build the ImgFlip community in any respect? I don't personally think so.

Others probably would have quit ImgFlip by now or resorted to lashing back with abuse of a similar nature. I'm not going to do that. So, I will deny the creator the satisfaction of seeing the unmistakable intent of his content fulfilled. In other words, I will not stoop to his level.

Regardless, by failing to Mod the content, ImgFlip is tacitly agreeing to publish that content by virtue of the watermark that appears at the bottom-left of the image.

Is that the kind of ImgFlip the man upstairs wants?
