Just to add a late reply here, entirely anecdotal of course. A co-worker of mine was incredibly sick late last year, around end of November early December. He was out two weeks and when he came back, looked 'death camp' skinny, imo.
He had been hospitalized, and he said the doctors told him it was a flu, but one they hadn't seen before, and that it had settled into his lungs. He's a pretty healthy guy, was 29 at the time, and I don't know if his life was at risk or not. But I can easily imagine somebody in their 60's or older getting it and being taken out quick. Throw in another factor, like a compromised immune system, and there'd be no chance.
More to your point Pascalean, assuming what BlueBunny reports was covid, and what my co-worker had was covid, as well as you and your family, then you are 100% correct; this was here long before anyone knew about it. Nobody, not Trump, nor even the great dem hope, Sundowner Joe Biden could be expected to control something that was an unknown.
Thanks for the virus, China. Well, the CCP. I don't blame the people of China, but I think the CCP needs to be held accountable. Financially if in no other way.
