If you knew why we are the way we are, you'd be one of us.

There's more than one reason why people become atheists, and I know the core reasons and I'm still not one.

No you don't, as evidenced by the points you presented. I became an atheist because all the arguments for god, specifically the best ones, are just "There must be X, I want X to be God, Therefore God". Most religions are ridiculously primitive and outdated bullshit. No evidence for god at all, therefore no reason to assume he is real.

Your ilk talks up "arguments", "logic" and "reason", but every time it turns that there's always at least one of the following in their choice;
1) a bad experience with a believer
2) a religious teaching that condemns something they like doing (eg; the LGBT crowd tends to be both more atheist and promiscuous than heterosexuals)
3) a misunderstanding of Scripture.

1. I never had any bad experience with any christian.
2. What about religious teachings that say you should worship a masochistic despot that sends people who don't worship the OG stick man to eternal torment and anguish? What about the ones that say you can beat your slaves if they're not dead? What about the ones that say that you deserve everything that happens to you because a woman ate a fruit once?
3. This is your best argument. The bible's metaphorical parts read like the writer was smoking so much weed that his lungs shrivelled up cartoon style. The literal parts contradict each other in some parts. The result is a book that you don't know what to say about.

) Typical atheist singling out Christians. Because no one EVER had a bad experience with someone from ANOTHER RELIGION, eh? So everyone effected by Islam or Paganism or Judaism can't have had bad experiences that'd make them feel uncomfortable with religion?
2) You have a crazy strawman of God that says more about you than Him. You disregard the teachings of loving others and forgiveness to misrepresent God as an excuse to justify your position. You're literally the Skinner meme from the Simpsons; "Am I being bad? No, it's the God and the Bible's that's bad" is you.
3) Another strawman that says more about you than Scripture. You're also living proof of this verse; "
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." 1 Cornithians 2:14
Even your arrogant scorn for the Bible proves it correct.

1) I never had a bad experience with anyone either, not even a pastafarian.
2) I'm not disregarding the good things. It's just that mainstream Christianity requires you to believe in books that teach undefencible crap as well (Psalm 51:5, Exodus 21:20-21, Revelation 21:8).
3) No, just because I scorn something doesn't mean it's true. You need to show that it's true with tangible and objective evidence. How do you know something is of the "Spirit of God" when no one really knows whether there even is a god or a spirit?
0 ups, 6mo,

1) You still singled Christians out in your previous comment.
2) You clearly do because you made no mention of any good thing until I called you out. And just because you don't understand or like something doesn't make it indefensible.
3) What is your specific criteria for credible evidence? Is it "something I can do on command"? Many people know, just because there's disagreement doesn't mean the truth can't be known.

1) Cool story bro.
2) I only pointed out bad things because I wanted to prove something to you. Do you like genocide?
3) Credible evidence is a part of empirical knowledge: if you look at it from a completely objective perspective, without any motive to manipulate it to fit your worldview, you can know the truth.
0 ups, 6mo,

1) I don't see how it doesn't make you wrong either.
2) We're all sinners. And while they had Canaanite ancestors, they broke off and became their own group. Plus, that undermines the "genocide" claim.
3) Your inaccurate depiction of those situations aside, you know a lot of those things you criticize are also in Jewish holy book? But I don't see you calling out the Talmud or Jews. Still singling out us Christians and the Bible.
1 up, 5mo
1) So let's ignore that since it has no bearing on this subject
2) You can genocide your own people. Just look at how the CCP is genociding the Uyghurs. It's still a genocide, even though the Turkic and Sinitic people broke off.
3) Okay. The Quran is an extremely inhumane book, and contradicts itself on whether other Abrahamic faiths (including Mandaeism, even though it is gnostic) go to heaven or not, how you should treat infidels, etc. Momo the Pedophile made it the f**k up. The Talmud promotes stoning gay people (Sanhedrin 54b). The Bhagavad Gita promotes casteism. But the reason I didn't say those earlier is because we are focusing on THE BIBLE and CHRISTIANITY.

1) That doesn't make me wrong.
2) Nice attempt at a loaded question. Funny that some people complain about God not doing anything to stop evil, then call Him "cruel" when he does something to evil people.
3) Empirical knowledge is not foolproof. Right back at you about the second part.
1 up, 6mo
1) That doesn't make me wrong either.
2) I'm not one of those people. Oh, wait, everyone is evil according to your standards, including Midianites and Canaanites because they're all lysol-drinking, bacon-eating bums according to the Israelites and Judaites. WHICH WERE THEMSELVES CANAANITES AS WELL.
2) I just wanted to provide some sources to oppose the notion that everything in the bible is good. Genocide isn't good, selling rape victims to rapists for 50 shekels isn't good, stoning rebellious sons isn't good (gender equality!), etc. But just because you adknowledge the evil parts doesn't mean it's wholly bad. The world is shades of grey. Credible evidence still stands.
0 ups, 5mo,

1) So that doesn't do anything for either of us.
2) You can't genocide your own people without ending yourself too. The fact that you had to say the Turkic and Sinitic broke off when citing the Uyghurs disproves what you tried to say about the Caananites.
3) I do agree with your take on the Qu'ran (thank God most Muslims live better lives than their prophet did). My point was you singled out Christianity, and you just admitted to that. That is why I called you out. And you only said those things after being called out repeatedly. You might want to do some introspection about your prejudices.
1 up, 5mo
1) yes.
2) this silly motherf**ker over here thinks Uyghurs aren't Turkic
3) I said the world was shades of grey, didn't I?

Okay then, thank you for clarifying that. Looks like I was wrong about you. The three reasons I cited are the overarching reasons that people become atheists/why they believe atheism is the correct worldview.

So what pushes people to believe in God ? Facts and logic ? We believe or not in something for different reasons. Saying I’m atheist because I was « misinformed » or because I hate religion is just dumb.
I’m not saying all believers are stupid. I’m saying that you are.
Have a good day.

My meme clearly lists three reasons people become atheists - note there are actually three reasons when you only claimed two. Your comment is attacking a strawman. The three reasons I clearly stated - re-read what I actually said in the meme - are;

1) Lack of knowledge

2) Religion or something relating to a god being involved in a painful experience or not preventing it

3) Somehow clashing with the subjective personal tastes of the atheist in question

What reasons do you have for being an atheist?

Why people believe in God varies from person to person, and some reasons are more common than others. One part of why I believe in God is because I see the results of what happens when people disobey moral teachings found in the Bible - for example by permitting no-fault divorce and encouraging vanity (even if they're found in other sources they're morals Christianity teaches as well, so credit where credit is due).

CALM DOWN EVERYONE!

I wasn't talking about the riots, I was talking about why people become atheists.

Atheism is widespread among the rioters; two of the three founders of Black Lives Matter - Alicia and Patrisse - are avowed Marxists which has seeped into BLM, and a significant part of the left is anti-religious. Having said that, there are religious people among them too; there's religious and non-religious rioters and these riots are bad full stop.
