I had long waits when I was on private insurance.

So did my wife. She had to wait almost three months to have a cancer-related surgery with tons of complications.

It wasn’t anywhere near elective. Anyone who tries to convince me otherwise can kick rocks.

Here is another fact, from a doctor with 11 years of experience.
Because some people do not of health care they cannot pay for their medication so they keep going back to the hospital, asthma? To bad can’t pay for an inhaler you don’t get one. Then you go back again and again and it costs more. It would be cheaper if these people just got the medications they need.

So what you’re saying is an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?

If “conservatives” realized they’d actually be saving money in the long run, they’d get on board. Unless, of course, they truly draw life blood off the misery of others...

It’s true, it cost more for people to keep being admitted to a hospital because they can’t afford their medication than for them to just get their damn medication

Let’s address the Cons, because Pros are Pros.

“Forces healthy people to pay for other’s medical care”
— You’re doing that already.

“Without financial incentive, people may not be as careful with their health.”
— They're doing that already.

“Most universal health systems report long wait times for elective procedures.”
— So what? They’re elective, which means they’re not life threatening, which means if you have to wait two weeks to get the fat sucked out of your ass, too bad...which actually points back to the second example.

And you still have to wait.

To piggyback on the third Pro...

For union members like myself, we would no longer would require a monetary contribution to healthcare from our stamp, thereby reducing our taxable income, thereby reducing our taxes, etc., etc.

In my case, it would cut the value of my stamp by almost 1/3. Without doing the math, that would almost certainly knock me down to a lower tax bracket, saving me money.

Agree, but those things already happening could happen to a greater degree. Great points you made. The pros outweigh those cons IMHO.

What is this? A post that's not all one-sided? Did you not read the rules? 😜

They probably, when dealing with humans never assume they are logical, won’t take worse care of themselves. Getting sick or injured is never fun.
