Okay. Granted on the race, but..Jamaicans, at least the ones I know, don't claim to be African...or American. Neither do Indians (from India). Neither do blacks born in Europe...etc. Kamala is trying to capitalize on a heritage she has tenuous, at best, ties to, being a descendent of slave owners herself. Genetically...yep. Just like I'm 25% Cherokee, 25% German, and some level of Irish and other stuff. I don't hyphenate any of those for the sake of political gain, though, not claiming the Indian ancestry, cost me dearly in college. That's the point I'm making here. My Kenyan and NIgerian acquaintances think the whole hyphenated thing is ludicrous, and have a very low opinion of Americans trying to tie themselves to a place they've never been to.
