MLK jr. "I have a dream" | BUT IT’S THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN THAT MATTERS | image tagged in mlk jr i have a dream | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Didn’t MLK want to be recognized by character, not skin color? And yet we are placing more emphasis on skin color than ever.

Okay. Granted on the race, but..Jamaicans, at least the ones I know, don't claim to be African...or American. Neither do Indians (from India). Neither do blacks born in Europe...etc. Kamala is trying to capitalize on a heritage she has tenuous, at best, ties to, being a descendent of slave owners herself. Genetically...yep. Just like I'm 25% Cherokee, 25% German, and some level of Irish and other stuff. I don't hyphenate any of those for the sake of political gain, though, not claiming the Indian ancestry, cost me dearly in college. That's the point I'm making here. My Kenyan and NIgerian acquaintances think the whole hyphenated thing is ludicrous, and have a very low opinion of Americans trying to tie themselves to a place they've never been to.

Donald harris, (Kamalas dad) was a black Jamaican who emigrated to the US in 1960, if someones parent was asian, then they have to have some asian ethnicity in them

I don't deny her "blackness" if that's what you're getting at, or any of it for that matter, just the "African-American" hyphenation when her parents are from entirely different continents. Seems she is just picking and choosing for political gain. The meme is poking at that one central fact. Black people all over the world know where their descendents are from. And, if I'm to listen to some world historians, I'm African as well. So where do we get to draw that line? Easy...don't. Only in America is it so prevalent. No one is American by those weird rules, since all races immigrated one way or the other from somewhere else.

You are correct, it does not get to deny her blackness, im just saying there is a pretty high that she could be of african descent

Not before the primaries when she self-declared as an Indian-American. After she lost the primaries as a recently self-declared Black she immediately went back to calling herself Indian-American. It was only after Biden (or actually the DNC) selected her to become the vice presidential nominee did she self-declare as a Black again.
