In my 30-years of working for the VA, I met thousands of Veterans. They tend to skew more conservative than the general public. But, they see through phony patriotism and stolen valor. I was in negotiations with a group of angry combat veterans, over a list of issues. Our FBI contact called me to tell me that one of them was not a Veteran and another had lost a leg in a motorcycle accident, that he claimed was blown off in Vietnam. He said he was concerned about their safety, if their real stories were discovered by the group. Real Veterans, eventually, see through phonies. President Pandemic dodged the draft and attacked a real Veteran and a real hero, John McCain. He raided the DoD budget to pay for his totally political "Wall." I suspect we will soon have a source for these stories about the unacceptable names he called KIAs. Then, he will shift modes to "What he intended to say." And, the usual suspects will echo his cowardly excuses.
