No, your teacher's right - people are absolutely fuming mad at police.

Only fools. Your hate is all on you, do not blame the police because of your bad choices. The truth is officers respond to assaults, suicide attempts and accidental overdoses, alcohol poisoning, car wreaks and dozens of other threats to safety. It would be impossible to calculate how many Americans owe their lives to officers.

So...because they've saved some lives, it's fine for them to take some lives?

It's weird, I was under the impression that they took an oath that says "On my honor, I will never betray my badge, my integrity, my character or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will always uphold the Constitution, my community, and the agency I serve."

Not "I will drive around and when my attention is drawn to a member of the public, I will then decide whether they lives or die."

Very stupid comment. If you are going to hold the entire force responsible for the actions of a few, you should demand every car owner be charged with all accidents, all internet users with spreading child porn and on and on and on. You are according to you responsible for all crime just by breathing, surrender yourself to your local PD.

We fire bus drivers for irresponsible driving and possibly put them in jail. We fire social workers for spreading child pornography and possibly put them in jail. If they didn't, we would be furious at the transport and social services management. Do you see how that works? Institutions absolutely can and should hold individuals responsible for actions that breaks the trust of the people they are supposed to serve, and if they don't, we do hold the entire institution responsible.

Would you be happy flying on an aircraft with a suicidal pilot? But not all pilots are bad, are they? Planes land successfully all the time. But there is no room for bad apples in that particular job - you CANNOT tolerate dangerous behavior in that position of responsibility, especially when you're the passenger.

As the old saying goes, a few bad apples spoils the bunch.

Again with the ignorance, there are plenty of police officers that have been arrested, charged and are now in jail. What is a real issue is thousands of mindless, violent, law breaking thugs are not with them. Once violence has started anyone that stays in the crowd is directly supporting it and should be charged. If you want to hold officers accountable then you should demand the same of everyone.

And yet the police continue their extrajudicial executions. So apparently, not enough police are in jail for their abuse of power.

Whatever, people better than you will ever be will be out there today and tomorrow saving lives while you rot in hatred, self pity and fail at life.

You don't think individual cops represent the police force? You think they're guerrillas?

Do individual drivers represent everyone on the road? Stop being stupid, you are better than that.

Cops, like any group, have a culture. That culture is influenced by their experiences. The preponderance of their experience is with liars, crooks and criminals who appear as normal citizens. This gives them a skewed view of the public. Just as anyone that works in customer service will tell you the public sucks. If like the police you work the complaint window you see the worst of it. That said only a small percentage of officers believe themselves to be Judge Dredd. Many police are Democrats but it’s not a political thing it’s a police thing.

The ability to suspend accountability for your actions that lead to bad outcomes is interesting. In many of these cases the “victim” had the most control over what led to their demise. Deciding you are above the law and can ignore and fight with officers is only going to lead to more incidents. Cops need more training on constitutional rights and citizens need to comply with police instructions. Especially if they have their weapon out. As in the recent Wisconsin incident if he had complied with instruction he would not have had this outcome.
