There is the example of the second caliph in the Arab Islamic empire, (that's something we don't see much of so it might be new, which is a good thing) the caliph, on his death bed, chose 6 people who were respected and known all over Arabia, to choose one person from themselves with a vote. Only the 6 people voted among the 6 people. There was no question of a disagreement or rebellion because all people involved were renowned, mature people.
If a large group of people supports a leader and that leader loses in elections, wouldn't the group feel voiceless?
If the leader of the group is involved in an election process like the one mentioned, wouldn't it be a bit better?
