They understand that. What they don't get is why some people cannot speak of the mistakes of our hero's. It doesn't diminish those who created America. It doesn't diminish the positive inputs they had. All it does is correct history and tell the truth of our past.

Still, a limited few had an unbelievable foresight and education despite the negatives to create the greatest democracy on earth. One that completely transformed the future of humankind and has gotten us to where we are today.

Does John Glenn or Buzz Aldrin deserves statue For traveling to the moon. That is comparable to what Columbus did In his day so I disagree. We agree on the history and that the founders were imperfect as are all men. If it was a discussion about such instead of defacing their images and destroying art then it might get more support.

Did Glenn or Buzz enslave more than a thousand moon people, rape their women, bring them back to earth to display and torture, slit moon people throats till they told him where the gold was hidden?

Columbus called them Indians because he thought he was in the Indies. Fool didn't ever know during his lifetime that he was in a new world.

56yrs after his first voyage, only 500 out of 300,000 Indians remained on Hispaniola. The rest were dead.

Wow Columbus was very busy personally doing all of that, no he didn’t. Your issue may be with the Spanish exploitation of the new world but that was not all attributable to Columbus. The fact is he had the courage to board a ship and sail into the unknown and discovered a new, previously unknown, world.
