Well tell you what, why don't we get 4-6 women of color with different policies running for each office and then we can vote between them? That way we're keeping the identity as a control and we can be secure that the votes are for policy.

No, if there is a choice between a man and a women, and the man clearly has the superior policy platform in your opinion, you should vote for the man. Similarly, if the women has the superior policy platform, you should vote for the women. However, restricting the field to only women would prioritize identity (the gender of the candidate) over the policy.

But that would work BETTER if you had a woman with a superior platform and a woman with a mediocre platform, wouldn't it? Then there'd be no question that the votes were for the platform. Platform over identity, remember? Because remember, just because people *should* be voting for platform, doesn't mean they are.

If there are only two women running for office and one has a better policy platform, then vote for the one with the policy platform. However, my point is, if there is a man in the race with a better policy platform, you shouldn't discount him solely based on the fact that his opponent is a women.

Ok, but which scenario is going to give you the more reliable referendum on the platforms? The all-women one, of course. Just take the bias out of the equation entirely.

So what would your argument be? Of course an election with candidates of the same gender will be less influenced by bias than one that isn't. However, you can't enforce elections where there is only one gender allowed. That in and of itself is influenced by a bias against the gender that isn't allowed, and would be illegal. I feel as though what you said was a moot point. My argument is, above all, when there is a field of candidates, you should vote for the candidate with the best policy regardless of their identity.

No it doesn't. You were arguing for controlling identity by only having women candidates for an election, which by itself would be tainted by an identity bias and would be illegal.

I'm arguing the very simple point that when you have a field of candidate, vote based on their polices instead of their identity. I have no idea how you find my argument objectionable.

Right, so get 4-6 women of color of the same caliber of character and then run each of them on different policies. Just balance the gender and color entirely with women of color. Basic science, it's not hard to understand.
