I am a 2nd generation immigrant and I still love this country. It is not about political parties but my fellow man.

America is still great. We acknowledge our mistakes and learn from them by not erasing our history.

Except the erasing of our history is happening right before our eyes right this minute. I love this country as much as I ever did. Every person lucky enough to be born into a family that lives here, or born into a family that emigrates here, pretty much won the human lottery. The large majority of the world's population is far less well-off as the average American, which is sad. But, that fact alone should make nearly every person living in this country grateful for it. Cheers! USA!!!!

Yes. I am Canadian, and I am proud of my country's accomplishments (maybe not all the policies), and I also feel prouder of the greater country to the south of us and all the things you guys have been through. I hope you can learn to love your country as much as I love it. I plan to move there one day too. :)

We need more people like you. When I served in the Army, people from Canada were more pro America than natural born Americans.

That’s pretty interesting history. Tying genealogy and history together is fascinating.

Know it all, the sugar and the spice to get the full
Complexity of it. History is a complex thing for the slogan based thinker. It’s easier just to take someone else’s thought and parrot it until it becomes your thought. Few things are that simplistic especially when talking about politics and motivations in context of the times lived. You think what you think is normal and future generations will laugh at you and say wow did people really think like that, we should dig up their graves and desecrate them. Or they will ask well how did a whole country go along with Hitler. Maybe No one thought he would really do what he did and by the time he did it, it was too late. Love it or leave it!

Thing is, I don't know if there is anything left in the U. S. to be proud of. Probably not. I know I just started a comments war by saying this, but oh well.

I am proud of our heritage. I made something of myself from nothing. So America is not that bad in my book.

But that's something you did yourself, not something the Nation did for you. It's ok to be proud of one's heritage, as long as you recognize that that doesn't define you. Only the image of God in you defines who you are.

The country facilitates everything its citizenry achieves by providing the requisite resources and freedoms for achieving success. Try achieving anything if you are born in a country like Sierra Leone, and the large majority of the rest of the countries in the world.

Then, according to you, all these people who are proud of being an American are wrong? Wow, that's nice of you to dictate what is good and what is not. There is a ton of things American that we all should be proud of. This is a melting pot and our diversity alone should make people proud. The freedoms we have, relative to most of the rest of the world makes me proud every day.

I'm not dictating what people should think is good or bad. I am merely pointing out that many good qualities that people thing the American nation has are, in fact, absent.

Perhaps saying that there is nothing to be proud of in America was a little extreme, and I apologise. Please forgive me. I meant no offense.

You claim these opinions in a very dictatorial way, too. When you stick an "in fact" in there, like you did in your reply to my comment, you really make it seem like you think your opinion supersedes those of everyone else. What we're discussing here is based mainly on opinion. Nearly everything is debatable, especially something so abstract as the qualities of a nation. I'm sure that if you provide some examples of your last claim, I could provide examples of why those qualities are, in fact, still present in this country. They may not pervade every aspect of the country, but they are still here.

I'm an American and I'm proud of the society that I live in. It has its flaws, but it also has its shining examples of what makes this a great place to live and prosper.

Well, then again, the fact that I am an American citizen has never held much importance to me (maybe because I'm not an adult yet, but that's aside the point). I recognize that no matter where on Earth I am, or where I'm from, or what nation I'm part of, it doesn't really make a difference. I'm still a human, made in the image of God, and my citizenship in Heaven has been earned for me by Jesus Christ. That's what I'm proud of.

And the leftists on here will hate you for your belief in god. They mock religious belief. Are you sure what side you want to be on.
