Well I guess you did see the woman yelling "I'll teach my grandchildren to hate you" while rubbing herself with the confederate flag. Of course one woman doing does does not mean all people are like her, and so neither does the fact that people vote for a black candidate mean that all people would.
Now I would never have voted for Obama simply because he was black. I would have voted for him (if I could, since I'm not in the U.S. so I can't vote) because his political agenda was in my opinion better than that of his opponents (I'm speaking for both elections, thus in plural). I mean that should be the only thing that matters, right?

There's other parts of government, sometimes the state and city/township level is different than the national level, and you might have issues that are there because of that.
