Sheriff Clark is a good man, who believes in law and order, and I support him. I'd sleep better at night, if he (or someone like him) were Sheriff in my county.
For every one of those instances you mention, there are hundreds, if not thousands, or more, incidents when cops didn't use excessive force. They're not all like your uncle, eyes shut.
That having been said, when cops use excessive force, they should receive excessive punishment, imo. Their crime is magnified in intensity because in their position, they're violating the public's trust.
We can't allow bad people to become bad cops, and do the things you're referring to. We need better pre-hire screening to weed out people who want to be cops just for the power trip.
