Yes and no. The Bolsheviks were anarchists in every sense of the word. So in my opinion Antifa is both.

The Bolsheviks killed the Makhnovists when they tried to establish anarchism in the free Ukraine territory. Read a single passage of history.

Bolsheviks murdered several members of my grandmother's family and starved every adult in her village. We know more about Bolshevik and anarchist savagery than I care to discuss here, thank-you.

You are connecting the two when you shouldn’t be. The Makhnovists fought for the Bolsheviks during the revolution, then the Bolsheviks fought them during the Russian Civil War.

I connect them because the Bolshevik leaders represented themselves and their followers as anarchists and their actions prior to and throughout the revolution certainly proved to be the actions of anarchists.

You are free to postulate the idea that because the Bolsheviks turned on a branch of their ideologists, this discredits them as anarchists. But remember, "Two mad dogs fight, no less dangerous is the one who walks away." - an analogy you would surely know if your knowledge of Russian is as good as you claim. And anarchists in general are rabid mad dogs, no matter what name they choose to call themselves.

The Bolsheviks collaborated with the anarchists in October, and adopted some of their methods but were never themselves anarchists nor did they ever claim to be. They always had a dictatorship of the proletariat in mind, and worse yet, a vanguard state that suppressed all opposition and made the Bolshevik Party the only party in Russia.

Alexander Berkman: “ That is just what happened in Russia. The Bolsheviki advocated and partly carried out Anarchist ideas, but the Bolsheviki were not Anarchists and they did not at heart believe in those ideas. They used them for their own purposes — purposes that were not Anarchistic, that were really anti-Anarchistic, against the Anarchist idea.”

He was a useless, violent, self-pitying, and hateful loser. However, I do concede that for those whose narcissism compels them to cause mayhem and to assume they have the right to decide who deserves to live and to die, Berkman must seem like a darned swell guy.

I'd ask you what the Frick you mean, but I've given you enough of my time today. So I wish you a good night now, TC.

If you bothered to study political science, you'd know that anarchist by definition support the absence of government, which is impossible under socialism/communism. What you are talking about is a European strain called red-anarchist, which is garbage. I'm not an anarchist, but if I were to support it, it would be American colonial anarchism, Individualist Anarchism for example. The Bolsheviks are Communist Jews, and again, they got their anarchism from Europe, an inferior version.

The reason these Communist cannot be Anarchist, is because Anarchist by definition is one who supports the absence of government, only you need government to enforce Communism/Socialism. The red-anarchist as they are called, is a European strain of Anarchism, which is inferior. They use "anarchism" as a way of pulling in the youth by making them think somehow they are fighting for freedom. True Anarchism, would be Individualist Anarchism, Anarcho-Capitalism and Green Anarchism. But again, Red-Anarchists are nothing but Communist Marxists who in actuality want more government.

Anarchist communism is one of the oldest anarchist ideologies, and the most successful. Communism doesn't require a state, it only requires revolution, and the swift action of the masses to expropriate and reclaim private property for the working class. The role of the state is to uphold the inequalities and injustices of capitalism, to maintain class rule. In the post-capitalist classless society that communism proposes, there is no longer need for that institution.

"If, indeed, anyone should think that, in the communistic society, man must still remain under some form of compulsion in order to, do what is right, and leave off what is wrong, he had better give up communism at once and abandon all hope for the human race." - Johann Most, once the most famous anarchist (communist) in America

Take this from an anarcho-communist (me).

Blah blah blah, wrong! and you're still a commie! lol

That is the most pathetic response I've seen on this site. It's like you know you're wrong and don't even care, and would rather continue to misinform people with your same tired shpeal about the "colonial anarchism" which doesn't exist. What kind of anarchists would support policies of economic exploitation, land grab and genocide and slavery? Foolish.

If you hate the state, then advocate free markets and individual liberty, the state hates that.

Notice if an entrepreneur wanted to open up a business, how would this so called anarchist stop such a thing from happening if not by the state or by mob rules, which is the same.
0 ups, 3y,

Individual liberty and free markets seem quite opposed to each other. I will support the former, never the latter.

The state literally overthrows leftist governments that challenge the free market system and strangles their economies with sanctions and embargoes to pressure them into adopting capitalism. Institutions like the IMF and World Bank help the developing nations or former communist states adopt free market policies.

They are not really anarchists. And having an anarchist symbol on their flag for some reason does not change that.
2 ups, 4y,

Nope, a symbol taken from Spain's history, but still doesn't make them anarchist. They are outright Communist using an anarchist front in order to attract the youth, who thinks its about liberty. Ask most antifa if they support social programs and laws that protect special interest groups and you'll see them say yes, proving that you can't be an anarchist and want government at the same time. lol

All anarchists, even individualists, are socialists. Anarchism is a socialist ideology. Looks like your political science professor failed you.
