So why is the mortality rate in the USA currently as high as 5.8%, then?

over counting

And don't forget under-counting the number of actual cases. Once we get into serious antibody testing, we'll find that waaaay more people have had this than we realized. The mortality rate is likely closer to 0.5% or less.

I hope it was worth it.

This whole lock down feels like an overreaction. Feels like the demoncrats are trying everything they can to take down Trump. I hope people see it for what it is.

OR is it because you're wrong and it's actually more harmful when you neglect public safety during a pandemic?

It's more harmful to keep the country closed and the economy shut down. If you're at risk, stay home. It's foolish to keep the country closed when we know who the people at risk are.

Exactly right. Medical Doctor Scott Atlas said it himself.

Absolute nonsense. Countries that enact good protocols against virus spread have 2% fatality rates or less; countries that don't have almost 10% fatalities. You're wrong and you're killing five times more people than the virus would.

I'm not killing anyone. You should talk to Governor Cuomo and Governor Murphy about killing people.

The closed minded, like antithesis, will never even address the mass murder that was done in nursing homes in NY and NJ at the hands of their respective governors, when they sent Covid-19 positive patients back into those facilities.

THAT is what is known as having blood on your hands.

Because people refuse to stay home when they're sick. If all the sick people stayed home, this would've been over a long time ago. And also, all the elderly people with it are forced into nursing homes where they're all dying instead of hospitals who are actually equipped to treat them. Lastly, we're a huge country. That's why.

But here's the thing - you said it yourself: if you don't have symptoms, you don't know if you're sick. By the time you diagnose someone with coronavirus, it's already too late - there's roughly up to 2000 people who have the virus walking around thinking they're healthy.

You're wrong. It's a harmful virus not because the virus itself is difficult to shake off, but because we're not being careful about its spread.

The top part is totally false. Why don't you look at the statistics for Sweden? Pretty much the entire country is open and they are one of the lowest countries in cases. They understand that herd immunity is necessary to build up antibodies so we can actually fight the disease when we get it. That's the only way we will recover until there is a vaccine. I can tell you've been listening to too many politicians who don't have any medical knowledge whatsoever.

Not exactly Mr Current Affairs, are you? The Swedish are in absolute shock right now that the death toll figures have come in. They are furious with their government for their lack of action; now they're in the top ten of deaths per capita out of all the countries in the world. And here you are using them as an example having no awareness whatsoever of what's happened there.

Willful ignorance. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Who gives a f**k? The Swedes don't care about grenade attacks, no go zones and their sisters and daughters being raped. Doubt the government gives a shit about them.

Your post has made me very ashamed of myself. Thanks for helping the world a little bit today.

Norway is a much more impressive 44th in deaths per capita, genius! Sweden is 8th and we here in the States are 12th. The Danish and Finnish are also doing much better than us.

If you can't admit that the problem is the lack of lockdown, you're making an absolute fool of yourself.

I agree we should lock down those that are vulnerable. The elderly and those with pre-existing morbidities and those that are vitamin D deficient.

I hate repeated arguments, I really do. You know damn well what I say to that because you and I have gone over this already:

By the time you notice a person who has symptoms, they've already spread the disease to God knows who and God knows how vulnerable they are. Almost all contagious diseases work that way, and quarantine has always been about locking down people who are spreading the disease, not just the people you can visibly notice are sick.

By the time you see a sick person, that's not the time to ask how you can prevent its spread - it's already spread!

It wouldn't matter if we quarantined the vulnerable. Those without symptoms could walk around freely with no issues.
What you do is have visitor masks for old folks homes where they wear the N95 mask and gloves when they visit and that keeps everyone safe.

Publish your method of predicting who would die from the coronavirus, then. You'd become world famous overnight - people are quite literally dying to hear how that works.
