Your assumption of my assumption was incorrect. I said go to your family. Pick one of them to die. Then tell them that they're the one you're willing to sacrifice "because ships aren't meant to be safe."

Yeah, and a smart ship follows best safety practices, it makes sure it has the right equipment that is well maintained, and it sure as f**k does not go sailing straight into a storm when the weather man says it's gonna be a cat 5 hurricane.

Because there's a difference between taking risks and being stupid.

The Wuhan flu is only a cat 5 for a small percentage of the population. The government screwed the pooch on this one by locking down everyone instead of just them.

My father and grandfathers all faced that choice and enlisted in the military during wartime to offer up their lives for this country. The odds of surviving the Wuhan Flu are better than the odds they faced.

Did any of them say, "You know the odds of you getting hit by a bullet let alone killed by one are astronomical, right?' and then proceed to walk around however and where ever they wanted?

Did they listen to their chain of command, wear the proper gear and follow their orders?

Which one do you think they did to survive?

They were lucky. In the First and Second world wars it really didn't matter how good of a soldier you were- poison gas and artillery didn't care. Neither did kamikaze attacks.
