Not ever. The physically disabled should be protected. Especially if they're also unlegged.

You think someone can't kill you with their fists? Now, sure, a cop should always use a taser in every practical circumstance but i've seen people on PCP that don't even react to being tased.

My point was it's always best to be calm and respectful around cops for any race.

Bingo! Stay, consistent. If Ahmaud Arbery was on the McMichaels' property and rushed them with a gun? Hell yeah, Arbery should've been shot... killed if necessary. Heck, even if the altercation that happened in the street had happened on McMichael's property, it would be justified as self-defense.

Where it gets murky is that the McMichaels got in the car and pursued Arbery because he looked like a suspect that had been responsible for multiple break-ins. That's when it stops being self-defense and becomes closer to murder. No one's life was in immediate threat until McMichaels got in the car with their guns.

I get it, tho. I've been in McMichaels' situation and actively chased people who stole my tractor with my own grandson. We were armed. And we produced our weapons. They were going at top speed at 15 mph, and we came up on them pretty quickly to get our property back. They ran. No one got killed and my tractor was recovered. I was lucky. They were luckier because they could've lost their lives if I or my grandson saw them even move to pull a gun.

Arbery had nothing on him, and wasn't committing a crime, the McMichaels' at best tried to detain him. Instead, they should've just called the cops and pursued. Not directly confronted. The outcome would've been the same except Arbery might've been alive.

I notice you forgot to mention that Arbery RAN towards them and tried to wrestle the shotgun from McMichaels. Also that the police asked him to watch over the house because it had been recently robbed, along with a gun from McMichaels car. Which is why they called 911 during it.

Citizen arrest is legal in that state. Debate that, sure, but once Arbery decided to put his hands on McMichaels gun, fair game, as he could easily shoot him dead if he wrenches it away.

I believe I said:

To elaborate, self-defense for the McMichaels would be justified if it had happened on their property. Since they were not, and because they instigated the situation, it renders self-defense an invalid defense for the McMichaels.

This incident is not the best for promoting citizen arrest. In order for citizens arrest to work, the suspect must have committed a crime in the presence of another, preferably in the immediate vicinity, and the person making the arrest must have direct knowledge of it. The McMichaels getting into a car to interview a potential suspect while not only armed but putting him at gun point and within reaching distance is not a good use of citizen's arrest. The best they could've done was called the cops and pursued Arbery from a safe distance. Using the guns if Arbery approached them.

That isn't what happened, though. At least, not according to any of the testimonies I've read.
