If you don't understand this reference, it's about the Heaven's Gate cult that committed suicide back in late March 1997...39 members of this cult committed suicide by taking an overdoes of phenobarbital, washed down with vodka...the phenobarbital was mixed into applesauce or pudding. All 39 members wore black and white Nike Decades. They also all wore identical clothing. Plastic bags were put over the heads of the people who ingested the suicide cocktail. After they died, living members removed the plastic bags and arranged the dead neatly in their beds. These people truly believed that aliens were going to come and they were going to join them on their spaceship...that was following the comet called Hale-Bopp. It's a fascinating story. Interestingly, two former members still maintain the website at www.heavensgate.com. It's a weird website...filled with utter nonsense and paranoid delusions. Anyhow, I figured I'd post this comment with the story included because it happened over 23 years ago and many of you (most?) were not even alive then.
