Fauci endorsements, the optimistic view on upcoming trials etc. All these praises and optimism can be subsequently reflected in the company's shares which will be going up. Those early stakeholders will then sell and dump their holdings at a pretty high point under the cover of new buy ins from the fresh suckers who just saw the Fauci news on tv or other inspiring sources.

We now enter wave 2. After the share prices reach a peak, and price starts falling due to more people selling than buying. The same batch of early stakeholder can now "short" the stock. They can sell borrowed stocks currently priced at a higher point. They then buy it back when it plummets to low or close to worthless territories. essentially selling high buying low, the differences they made is the profit they earn.

In wave 1 the fresh suckers provide cover and padding buy buying after the early stakeholders. in wave 2, the same suckers provide momentum by again choosing to sell after the early stakeholders already sold their positions.

Yeah, by short or long they'll fleece the masses. Someone I know used to say any IPO, the money was made before the markets opened.
