The individual states do not have individual pandemics that keep within their borders and do not affect any other states. The individual states do not go it alone when things get tough, until now. I know, because my Democratic Party Dominated state does very well per capita economically. We pay more in Federal Taxes than we get in services. The excess goes to chronically poor Republican Dominated states like Kentucky. Individual states need help. We accept that. It is in the Preamble to our Constitution that we were United, among other things, to promote the General Welfare. Whether that means coming together over a strong plan to resist infection and promote enterprise, or helping people whose local economy cannot support them, we have an interest in each other's well being. Democrats have supported Republican states with our taxes and votes in Congress and have not turned our backs on them for decades. When things got tough in some of our Democratic States, we saw how Republicans washed their hands of any responsibility. But we'lll be there the next time you need us. That's called character.
